DIY Face Masks

The winter months can be relenting on our skin so we should give it a little bit of TLC. And while we would love to spend money on expensive face masks, sometimes you can get a just as effective mask made by yourself! With ingredients that you have at home already or are easy to purchase at a grocery store; DIY face masks are tempting in that you know all the ingredients that you are putting on your face and it can be made very quickly.

I would like to suggest a warning that everyone's skin may react differently depending on what they put on your face. I recommend doing a swatch test on your arm before you place the mask on your face. Just to ensure that your skin reacts well with the mixture! If you get any irritation, wash it off immediately and try a different recipe another time. Make sure to give your skin some rest in between mask treatments!

These are great if you are on a budget and are wonderful as well if you want to have a night in with your friends. This is a relaxing yet fun activity to do together!

Skin Balancing Spirulina Mask

This mask is a goldmine for antioxidants as Spirulina contains a higher amount than the praised blueberries. In short, antioxidants prevents the creation of ‘free radicals’ which damage your skin cells. It’s benefits include anti-aging, prevention of wrinkles and decreasing inflammation. Mix in bananas and lemon juice which encourages brighter skin.

Edible Mud Mask

Why not have a dual purpose face mask? Providing positive effects to your skin while also doubling as a snack! A highlight from this mask is cocoa powder which has amazing skin rejuvenating properties. Buttermilk tightens, softens your skins because of it contains lactic acid and is a natural pro-biotic.

Soothing Lavender Mask

A wonderful soothing face mask to help you wind down your day. Lavender itself has strong aromatherapy properties that allow for relaxation. The yoghurt allows for deep hydration and has mild skin bleaching properties that help with discolouration.

This tropical fruit is a hidden gem in terms of the benefits it provides for your skin. Not typically found in other face masks recipes you’ve seen previously, this fruit cleanses and promotes glowing skin. It contains a tons of Vitamin A and Papain which kills of dead skin cells.

Exfoliating Brown Sugar

This ingredient is great for taking away dead skin. Be sure to exfoliate gently, we want to be kind to our skin! Gentle circular motions work best. Whilst the coconut oil will help moisturize your skin. Use this mask once a week, not repeatedly as you will need time to give your skin some rest. Opt for another mask on the list if you’re wanting to do another one!

Anti-Aging and Hydrating Avocado and Honey Mask

Avocado are not only delicious to eat but that are also amazing for hydrating your skin. They contain high amount of omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamin C which brightens skin. Honey is usually seen in every DIY mask out there. It is soothing to the skin, moisturizing, prevents aging and has many many more positive properties!
